Description James Laska 2011-05-16 19:09:12 UTC
Description of problem:

Due to a lorax change [1], the installer initrd images are now created as XZ images, not gzip images. lsinitrd will need to accommodate this.

[1] http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/?p=lorax.git;a=commit;h=79b6e5bfa1c181e0a420a221e2bda5d5a5ef8a91

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
 * dracut-009-10.fc15.noarch

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download F15 installer initrd.img
2. Run `lsinitrd initrd.img`

Actual results:

/tmp/initrd.img:
========================================================================

gzip: /tmp/initrd.img: not in gzip format
========================================================================

gzip: /tmp/initrd.img: not in gzip format
cpio: premature end of archive
========================================================================

Expected results:

lsinitrd should work

seems like you need dracut upstream lsinitrd, which already supports it.
