Description xenhu134 2011-05-17 14:47:30 UTC
Description of problem:

The staging tree of kernel modules is not pre-built and packaged. I would kindly ask someone to package them, probably as a separate staging-kmod package as has been done with previous releases.

My interest towards these modules is that I bought A-Link WNU(L) wifi dongle, which apparently would work with RTL8192U driver that can be found from the staging modules. The vendor supplied module versions do not work with modern kernel versions anymore, and this is one of the most sold wifi dongles in local computer shops.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

I am using FC15-beta.

The drivers in staging aren't typically maintained to the same level of quality as other drivers, and are usually sufficiently far away from the usual level of driver quality that we're not able to look after them in Fedora ourselves. Exceptions may be made if there's someone who'll commit to maintaining the driver in Fedora.
