Description Dirk Gfroerer 2011-05-22 09:16:58 UTC
Description of problem:
Boot a system from the rhel-workstation-6.1-x86_64-boot.iso. Start the installation process. Networking, installation source need to be entered before the keyboard language can be chosen - which is done at the beginning of stage2.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
6.1

How reproducible:
every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot from rhel-workstation-6.1-x86_64-boot.iso with a machine with a non US keyboard.
2. Choose e.g. installation from URL.
3. Try to enter an URL. /, :, etc. are not what they use to be on your non US keyboard.

Actual results:
You have to search for the characters on your keyboard.

Expected results:
Keyboard layout is honoured.

Please attach your /tmp/anaconda.log to this bug so I can see what steps you took and what command line parameters you specified. Thanks.

Comment 3 Dirk Gfroerer 2011-05-23 19:47:03 UTC
There's no /tmp/anaconda.log on the machine. I just do have a
/root/anaconda-ks.cfg and
/root/install.log
/root/install.log.syslog

Interested in any of these?

I just inserted the above mentioned CD and booted the system up. Then had to enter my installation information within the text mode part of the installer. Then after stage2 (within the graphical section) I could choose my installation language and keyboard layout.

Comment 4 Chris Lumens 2011-05-23 20:08:03 UTC
At the end of installation, you'll find it as /var/log/anaconda.log.

Comment 11 Alexander Todorov 2011-08-17 15:09:05 UTC
In anaconda-13.21.128 if you boot with boot.iso loader will ask for language and keyboard before configuring install source and network which fixes this bug.

However in stage2 anaconda will prompt once more for language and keyboard information as the first 2 steps. IMHO this should not happen since those are already selected.

Moving back to ASSIGNED.

Comment 13 Alexander Todorov 2011-08-26 12:24:06 UTC
With anaconda-13.21.136 keyboard/language selection only happens in loader when booting from boot.iso. Moving to VERIFIED.
