I just clic on the icone on the menu, when it show this error message
My scan is over an MFP (DELL 1815dn) connected by USB.
I run Fedora 14 last kernel

How to reproduce
-----
1.Select Applications->Graphics->Scanner Tool <OR> Select Applications->Graphics->Simple Scan
2.Xsane begins to load
3.Immediate crash

4. I have disabled SELinux as a troubleshooting measure.
5. I have re-installed xsane and hplip
6. Crash is repeatable every time.

The original backtrace (comment #1) shows that the crash happens in libsane-smfp -> libmfp which is not shipped in Fedora, but was supplied by Samsung (I believe). You need to uninstall this driver (or at least disable it (smfp) in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf) to use your scanners with the xerox_mfp or hplip drivers, respectively.
