When a new virtual machine is created with the VMware IDE disk, this .iso boots normally, but the first screen has a message stating that GNOME 3 has failed to load and it has started in fallback mode. I have do not know if this is a related error or not. 512mb isn't enough for f15's install. The install ramdisk will need at least 768mb. After installation, the memory needed is lower. Work is ongoing in f16 to reduce this requirement. |
Created attachment 500668 [details] Fedora 15 i686 Live boot panic under VMware 6.5.5 (Windoze Vista) The hardware environment is VMware Workstation 6.5.5 build 328052 with 512 mb of memory running in Windows Vista Home Premium (4gb) with all updates current. 10gb of disk is allocated and the virtual disk is the default SCSI (0:0) created by VMware. Booting of Fedora-15-i686-Live-Desktop.iso has kernel panic early in boot sequence. Screenshot attached. Fails every time.
