X emacs windows display strange rendering artifacts on RHEL 6.1 with compiz enabled. This is a regression from RHEL 6.0. Apparently this was a problem in F14, but seems to be fixed in F15.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
emacs-23.1-21.el6.x86_64
compiz-gnome-0.8.2-24.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

What is the type of graphic card where the artifacts are observed?

There were some problems with Intel driver (component xorg-x11-drv-intel):
#673153 - emacs misdraws cursor and some other things when compositing is active
#512279 - screen corruption on intel, fixed with nomodesetIt might be similar to #587004 - Cursor completly hides the glyph underneath it
#487757 - emacs redisplay extremely slow
#516465 - graphics display corrupted on certain intel video cards

Thank you. Reassigning to Intel X.org driver for further investigation, because this bug previously occurred in the Intel driver in Fedora.

Do you still see this in current 6.2 images?

Comment 7 Andy Grover 2012-01-07 00:06:17 UTC
seems good now, thanks!
