This is a kernel or bootloader issue. UEFI booting on X64 ICH9 and ICH10 platforms works for me. Try adding the following kernel command line options one at a time: noapic, acpi=off, edd=off, and nolapic. I have had to use nolapic a few times with UEFI platforms. You can also remove the rhgb quiet options and add boot_delay=100 to slow down the screen output so as to better see what is going on. There are still problems with EFI in 3.0-rc, and even if we eventually get the fixes into F15 there will not be an official respin of the install disks. Please test rawhide/F16. |
Created attachment 500702 [details] Screenshot of DVD boot immediatly before system resets Description of problem: If I try to boot Fedora 15 x64 DVD via UEFI, systems resets after a short period of time. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 15 Release. How reproducible: H67 Desktop Sandy Bridge Mainboard, 2 or 4 GB RAM (same problem), small SATA-SSD Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert Fedora 15 x64 DVD 2. select UEFI DVD ROM drive in boot menu 3. Actual results: System reset; screenshot of message immediately before attached Expected results: Installer starts Additional info: Happens also if I only install 2GB RAM to system.
