Description Ali Sobhi 2011-05-25 00:12:48 UTC
Description of problem:
I have installed
eclipse-jdt 3.6.1 6.2.fc14
and other related components (as needed) and yet I can't see the J2EE perspective anywhere

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
eclipse-jdt 3.6.1 6.2.fc14

How reproducible:
I have removed and reinstalled eclipse and the same results

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:
No J2EE perspective

Expected results:
be able to activate J2EE perspective

Additional info:
If I install Eclipse Helios from eclipse.org in /opt/eclipse and make that directory owned by me (normal user, not root), then I can activate J2EE and also install additional plug-ins and features.

eclipse-jdt does not provide the J2EE perspective. The Eclipse Web Tools Platform provides the J2EE perspective:
