Description Bojan Smojver 2011-05-26 01:15:21 UTC
Description of problem:
Every time the machine is rebooted, my default session reverts to system default. Straced accounts-daemon process and indeed it seems that new temp file for my user is created (/var/lib/AccountsService/users/bojan.<random>), then this file is renamed into /var/lib/AccountsService/users/bojan. The correct order of things would be to open the user file first (i.e. query), then remember the new settings after login.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gdm-3.0.0-3.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot GUI.
2. Select a non-default session (compiz-gnome).
3. Reboot.
4. System default session presented for user (gnome).

Actual results:
User selected session not queried.

Expected results:
User default session should persist over reboots.

Additional info:
Language is also overridden, it seems.

And the choice of gnome/kde/etc is lost too! I use user-script and now it doesn't persist across logouts/login (i.e. no reboot needed). Quite annoying, specially when I accidentally log in to a gnome session.

Comment 2 Bob Arendt 2011-06-08 15:54:41 UTC
I'm seeing this in gdm-3.0.4-1.fc15.i686

This is similar to Bug 617465.

Comment 13 Robin Stocker 2011-12-27 11:58:48 UTC
Also seeing this with F16, gdm-3.2.1.1-6.fc16.x86_64.

In my case, the language is always reverted back to English the next time I log in.

Comment 14 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-06 20:01:05 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
