Description tony 2011-05-26 17:59:47 UTC
Description of problem:
The default resolution is set at 1600x900 16:9. Unfortunately, this resolution makes text way to small for readability, especially for web browsing.

There is no other alternative resolution for 16:9. There should be 1280x800 16:9

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
In Fedora 15 on a sandybridge chipset. I'm using a thinkpad T420s HD3000 ( intel core i5-2025M )

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:
only one 16:9 video mode

Expected results:
should be at least another 1280x800 video mode at 16:9

This is not an intel driver bug. Your panel's native resolution is 1600x900, and it's apparently not advertising support for any other 16:9 modes. Upscaling from a lower 16:9 mode would just look blurry and awful anyway. If you want bigger fonts, make your fonts bigger.

Dear Adam,

thank you for your answer. Would you be so kind to explain why when i run windows 7 the panel supports many more modes at 16:9 that are less resolution than 1600x900 and all the modes look great. Meaning none of the other modes are blurry but look very nice?

thank you,
-tony
