Description Clemens Eisserer 2011-05-28 09:27:55 UTC
Description of problem:

I installed fedora 15'x xfce licecd, and although specifying "cebox" as my machine's hostname, /etc/host is not adapted properly:

/etc/hosts
127.0.0.1               localhost.localdomain localhost
::1             localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6

When starting xfce without an internet connection, it complains: "could not look up the internet adress for your hostname. ...."

Wouldn't it make sence to add the specified hostname to /etc/hosts automatically?

Does installing 'nss-myhostname' fix this for you?

NetworkManager was changed in F-15 to not edit /etc/hosts, as that proved to be too problematic with various DHCP setups.
