Description trucall 2011-05-30 00:44:30 UTC
Description of problem:
System freeze on usb disk detach (detach without umount it before).

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login in gnome.
2. Attach an external disk
3. wait few seconds (3 seconds always reproduce the issue in my system)

Actual results:
System freeze

Expected results:
no freezing.

Additional info:
I also did a test with live fc15 cd, same behavior.

Nothing is logged in /var/log/messages, last occurrences are about disk automount.
[sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk.

Kernel: 2.6.38.6-27.fc15, also did a test with 2.6.38.6-26.rc1, same behavior.

Could you please try this update and see if the problems recreate:

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/kernel-2.6.40.6-0.fc15

We've added another possible fix for this issue from upstream. This particular fix might be unrelated, but 2.6.40 has additional fixes beyond what 2.6.38 does.

No comment in almost 5 months. Additionally, we've had even more fixes in this area recently.
