Description of problem:

Existing releases of module-init-tools assume x.y.z numbering. This may not be true in the future, with a move to x.y numbering.

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Build a kernel with x.y numbering in place of x.y.z
2. Install the kernel
3. Run depmod
 
Actual results:

Depmod fails to handle the numbering, does not generate dependency data

Expected results:

Depmod correctly generates dependency data
