Description of problem:

CIFS mapchars option is not usable in f15 as described in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=706176 this has been fixed in kernel-2.6.38.7-28.

Is there a possibility to provide a working kernel package in the updates repository?

Mapchars option does not work with 2.6.38.6-27.fc15.x86_64


Additional info:

I need to deploy f15 with Gnome on CIFS homes which implies mapchars. I would be happy if it worked out of the box. Currently Im using the rawhide f16 2.6.39-1 kernel.

There's are a couple of patches that are already in 2.6.38.7 that should fix this. I see a 2.6.38.7 build in koji, but not in bodhi. Chuck are there plans to push that to the f15 repos sometime?

kernel-2.6.38.7-30.fc15 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 15.

* was pushed to the Fedora 15 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing kernel-2.6.38.7-30.fc15'
as soon as you are able to, then reboot.
