Description pkarnik 2011-06-01 05:13:03 UTC
Description of problem:
We calculate the Total CPU time by adding up all the values of the /proc/stat cpu row:

[root@usbroccmp1 ciscotac]# more /proc/stat
cpu 423068303 6960627 135286291 465738508 22200131 1122132 64616836

The total CPU time is the number of days, the device has been up n running. It has been running for more than 300 days now. But, when we add up (213690753 +3535601 + 69121220 + 2373602539 + 10577537 + 1026646 + 35425802) / 100 / 86400, the number of days is only 129. Looks like the values of /proc/stat are rolling over at 260 days. Is this a bug ?
