Description enrico.barbarossa 2011-06-02 09:38:56 UTC
Description of problem:as the ath5k this module doesn't work well, speed is a nightmare, as reported in common bugs section of fedora 15
"poor transfer speeds with Atheros-based wireless chipsets"

But it has another bug: once de-activadted, either
via software (network-manager)
or via hardware, via laptop switch, wireless interface never came up again.

my laptop is a n acer 5630ez ,2yrs old

wireless chip is AR928X Wireless Network Adapter

it works with ath9k kernel module.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
everytime i switch off wireless

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install distro form dvd fedora 15 i386
2.yum update -y
3.switch interface off

Actual results:
poor transfer rate, once de-activated, never came up

Expected results:
in fedora 14 no problems, it seems a kernel-module related problem

Do you still have this problem with the 2.6.40.x F15 kernels?

Problem solved with 2.6.40 kernel.
but f15 bug in ath9k kernel module (#702722) is alwais here...
solution provided by fedora is good, but it persist also in fedora 16.

I'm going to treat this as the bug entry for the rfkill issue, and close it on the basis of comment 2.

Please use bug 702722 for addressing any continuing performance problems.
