Is that still an issue with latest kernel and NetworkManager?

Yes.

Comment 4 Antonio T. (sagitter) 2011-07-20 19:24:28 UTC
I report the end from /var/log/messages when connection breakdown:

...
Jul 20 20:57:50 localhost dbus: [system] Activating service name='org.freedesktop.PackageKit' (using servicehelper)
Jul 20 20:57:50 localhost dbus: [system] Successfully activated service 'org.freedesktop.PackageKit'
Jul 20 21:15:40 localhost autodeath: Default route disabled by autodeath cron job. See: man system-autodeath for more information.
Jul 20 21:18:30 localhost dbus: [system] Activating service name='net.reactivated.Fprint' (using servicehelper)
Jul 20 21:18:30 localhost dbus: [system] Successfully activated service 'net.reactivated.Fprint'

system-autodeath ?
What is it ?

Comment 5 Jirka Klimes 2011-07-21 11:44:53 UTC
Using google search reveals:
 - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=663340
 - http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FWN/Issue140#System_Autodeath
I removes default route for outdated OS releases. According to 663340 it never was default package.

But I have to say I don't like the feature at all.

So remove the system-autodeath package.
