Description Raffaele Candeliere 2011-06-04 14:58:19 UTC
Description of problem:
The installer simply doesn't start not in bios mode nor i EFI.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put the installer DVD in the the slot.
2. Reboot the PC while holding down the 'C' key in order to instruct the firmware to boot from the CD-ROM (in BIOS mode).
3.

Actual results:
A screen appears with the following message, then everything freezes
   1.
   2.
Select CD-ROM boot type

Expected results:
Instead of that, i should get the GRUB splash screen.

Additional info:
I googled around without finding anything relevant about Fedora. The only similar problem seems to be present in Windows 7 x64 install discs. Seems to be something related to version numbers in file names (e.g.: FileName.ext;1). Something similar in Fedora?

P.S. I tried also the efi mode, but i doesn't work. I can get to the grub splash screen but not further. This is however an old issue. The EFI folder on the CDROM points only to netboot (PXE) images and even if you try using a command line at grub prompt and instructing grub to use the isolinux files instead of the netboot images, the boot fails (apparently) because of ATI KMS driver settings problems (in EFI mode)

This works now in EFI mode I believe, as of F17. Please retry and open a new bugzilla if it does not work.

Comment 2 Raffaele Candeliere 2012-07-20 08:36:06 UTC
Right! Grub2 in EFI mode is working now, but there is another kind of problem. Anaconda crashes with the following message: "AttributeError: 'NoneType' objects has no attribute 'type'"

Please open that as a separate issue (if you haven't already)
