Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated
in the current release, Red Hat is unfortunately unable to
address this request at this time. Red Hat invites you to
ask your support representative to propose this request, if
appropriate and relevant, in the next release of Red Hat

Comment 3 Petr Šabata 2011-07-08 13:03:46 UTC
This seems to be quite serious. It feels like latex is currently unusable on RHEL6 because of the 5-year-old timebomb.

Changing this error message to just a warning would help a lot and prevent this issue from happening in the future.

See a possible patch:

Comment 4 Jindrich Novy 2011-07-28 07:13:14 UTC
Yes, it is quite serious. Actually any latex-related build of documentation of any package is now affected due to the error which is present when building fmt files from sources older than 5 years.

Without a fix on texlive side one needs to workaround this bug for every package which uses latex at build time which can prevent rebuilds and is generally annoying.

I have the same problem with a blktrace build, it's stopping me from filing my fastrack errata.

Thanks,

Comment 7 Jindrich Novy 2011-08-03 09:47:38 UTC
Changing component to texlive-texmf which is needed to be patched.
