Description Brian J. Atkisson 2011-06-08 01:15:46 UTC
Description of problem:

When booting on the RHEL6.1 kernel, my system kernel panics when mounting /, which is on a software raid device, with LVM on top and the LV encrypted. This happens on both kernel versions 2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.x86_64 and 2.6.32-131.2.1.el6.x86_64, however, the system boots fine on the RHEL6.0 kernels (2.6.32-71.24.1.el6.x86_64). I have have attached a screenshot of the panic. It's clear that the kernel cannot find the partition after assembling the raid array. However, this worked fine under RHEL6.0.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
 2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.x86_64 and 2.6.32-131.2.1.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. boot off either 2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.x86_64 or 2.6.32-131.2.1.el6.x86_64 kernels

Actual results:
panic

Expected results:
no panic

Additional info:

Here is my grub.conf:

Comment 3 RHEL Program Management 2011-10-07 15:36:57 UTC
Since RHEL 6.2 External Beta has begun, and this bug remains
unresolved, it has been rejected as it is not proposed as
exception or blocker.

Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if appropriate and relevant, in the
next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 4 Jes Sorensen 2012-07-16 21:05:16 UTC
6.2 has been out for a long time now and I haven't seen any updates to this
BZ.

Has the problem gone away?

Thanks,
Jes
