Description Heinz Mauelshagen 2011-06-15 10:34:29 UTC
Description of problem:

dmraid doesn't support the new dm-raid456 device-mapper wrapping target by Neil Brown/Jon Brassow which offers access to the MD RAID personalities, thus trying to activate RAID5 mappings with the dm-raid456 target will fail.

Important!
The current support for the dm-raid45 target module supported in RHEL6 and other distros (which ain't go upstream) _must_ stay in for backward compatibility.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
dmraid-1.0.0.rc16-10.el6

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Remove dm-raid45 target.
2. Have dm-raid456 target installed
3. Try activating any RAID5 set supported by dmraid (eg. isw)

Actual results:
Activation fails.

Expected results:
Activation succeeds.

Additional info:
THe enhancement involves additions to
lib/activate/activate.c
lib/events/libdmraid-events-isw.c
lib/metadata/metadata.c
lib/register/dmreg.c
