Would you able able to reproduce this issue with SELinux in permissive mode? I suspect that qmgr has business in /var/spool/postfix/deferred and that i may want more than just list that directory. We can only determine that if we allow it to list it first and then see what it wants next. I believe it needs "read" permission also. Nicolas, could you execute # semanage permissive -a postfix_qmgr_t recreate the issue and run # ausearch -m avc -ts recent Fixed in selinux-policy-3.9.16-30.fc16 Will this be updated in F15 as well? I see this problem in selinux-policy-targeted-3.9.16-32.fc15.noarch:

SELinux is preventing /usr/libexec/postfix/qmgr from 'read' accesses on the dossier /var/spool/postfix/deferred. ***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests *************************** If you believe that qmgr should be allowed read access on the deferred directory by default. Then you should report this as a bug. You can generate a local policy module to allow this access. Do allow this access for now by executing: # grep qmgr /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol # semodule -i mypol.pp Additional Information: Source Context system_u:system_r:postfix_qmgr_t:s0 Target Context system_u:object_r:postfix_spool_maildrop_t:s0 Target Objects /var/spool/postfix/deferred [ dir ] Source qmgr Source Path /usr/libexec/postfix/qmgr Port <Inconnu> Host (removed) Source RPM Packages postfix-2.8.3-1.fc16 Target RPM Packages postfix-2.8.3-1.fc16 Policy RPM selinux-policy-3.9.16-29.1.fc16 Selinux Enabled True Policy Type targeted Enforcing Mode Enforcing Host Name (removed) Platform Linux (removed) 3.0-0.rc3.git0.3.fc16.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jun 14 17:13:27 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 Alert Count 2 First Seen jeu. 16 juin 2011 20:23:08 CEST Last Seen jeu. 16 juin 2011 20:24:09 CEST Local ID 567daee4-3d85-4420-ba51-94581e5c17f0 Raw Audit Messages type=AVC msg=audit(1308248649.565:77): avc: denied { read } for pid=2458 comm="qmgr" name="deferred" dev=dm-1 ino=92345 scontext=system_u:system_r:postfix_qmgr_t:s0 tcontext=system_u:object_r:postfix_spool_maildrop_t:s0 tclass=dir type=SYSCALL msg=audit(1308248649.565:77): arch=x86_64 syscall=open success=no exit=EACCES a0=7f18b1f52df0 a1=90800 a2=646572 a3=0 items=0 ppid=1631 pid=2458 auid=4294967295 uid=89 gid=89 euid=89 suid=89 fsuid=89 egid=89 sgid=89 fsgid=89 tty=(none) ses=4294967295 comm=qmgr exe=/usr/libexec/postfix/qmgr subj=system_u:system_r:postfix_qmgr_t:s0 key=(null) Hash: qmgr,postfix_qmgr_t,postfix_spool_maildrop_t,dir,read audit2allow #============= postfix_qmgr_t ============== allow postfix_qmgr_t postfix_spool_maildrop_t:dir read; audit2allow -R #============= postfix_qmgr_t ============== allow postfix_qmgr_t postfix_spool_maildrop_t:dir read;
