Description Matthew Saltzman 2011-06-20 16:32:48 UTC
Description of problem:
Can't set a MAPI account to save sent mail on the server.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
evolution-mapi-3.0.2-1.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an Exchange MAPI account and select Defaults tab
2.
3.

Actual results:
Sent mail destination is set to local folder and greyed out. To keep sent mail in sync on the server, I need to manually copy it from the local folder to the Exchange sent-mail folder.

Expected results:
Sent mail destination selectable and I can select Exchange's sent mail folder. Sent mail is automatically saved on the server.

Additional info:
FWIW, this is allowed in the OWA connector.

Thanks for a bug report. The item is greyed, because you cannot change it. The folder would rather be the Sent Items in the MAPI account itself, but it isn't for couple reasons, one of them is that the button doesn't allow to show a nonexistent folder, when the account is firstly created and it is not connected to the server yet.

Usually, when you send an email via MAPI account the email is saved into the Sent Items, the folder which has an icon same as the On This Computer/Sent folder. It works for me as far as I can tell. Do you get any errors when sending the message?

Comment 2 Bryan Hundven 2011-07-16 08:41:41 UTC
I have a similar want to store my sent messages on the exchange sent-mail folder.

If I send a message to someone from my desktop, and then later on my laptop I need to forward/reply the message I sent earlier from another computer that is using OWA, I cannot access the message I sent because it is in the 'On This Computer/Sent' folder on my desktop, and not on the exchange sent folder.

Comment 3 cir.vfi 2011-11-22 16:54:24 UTC
I also see the disabled "Sent messages folder". I've used the account for sending and receiving and the item is still greyed out.

Package versions:
evolution-3.2.1-2.fc16.x86_64
evolution-mapi-3.2.1-1.fc16.x86_64

Comment 4 Milan Crha 2011-11-23 07:47:14 UTC
Please read comment #1 carefully. The messages are supposed to be in Sent Items always, that's why the Sent folder in account's preferences is disabled.

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 17:05:06 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
