Description Jimmie Mayfield 2011-06-21 17:32:02 UTC
Description of problem:
Bug #541615 logged against Fedora 12 was closed because F12 reached end-of-life. I still see this DMA error while trying to install Fedora 15 onto my IBM x3850 M2 system so I'm re-opening...

Hardware: IBM x3850 M2 with integrated LSI SAS

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Every time I try to install

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Obtain x3850 M2 machine
2. Attempt to install Fedora 15
3. During the installer kernel boot sequence, this error message will appear

Actual results:

Kernel reports Calgary-related DMA error during installer kernel boot sequence. Kernel does not see the LSI SAS controller so no storage devices are found.

Expected results:

Do not expect DMA errors

Additional info:

If iommu=soft is specified to installer kernel, the DMA error does not occur and the LSI SAS controller is found and Fedora installation can proceed.

Does the boot option "pci=nomsi" help?
