Description Kim 2011-06-21 23:14:27 UTC
Description of problem:

EPEL mirror list crashes Anaconda

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Anaconda 13.21.82

How reproducible:

Include the EPEL mirror list in kickstart script.

repo --name=EPEL --mirrorlist="http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=epel-6&arch=x86_64"

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create kickstart script with EPEL repo as shown above.
2. Run kickstart script.

Actual results:

Anaconda crashes.

Expected results:

Anaconda should use the mirrorlist from EPEL.

Additional info:

Using tcpdump, it appears that the following URL is being requested:

http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=epel-6&arch=x86_64/.treeinfo

The .treeinfo file from this link is obviously invalid, and it crashes Anaconda.

Comment 2 Matt Domsch 2011-06-22 18:34:44 UTC
Please attach /tmp/*log files to this bugzilla for further review.

You might also try with a different mirrorlist URL:
http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=epel-6&arch=x86_64

which uses the older plain text format list instead of an XML file. If that URL still appends /.treeinfo to it though, it'll fail...

Comment 4 Brian Lane 2011-06-22 18:51:54 UTC
Using http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64 will redirect to the first mirror and should work instead of the mirrorlist url.

You can also try this update patch by passing this to the kernel boot line:

Need to backport commit 70e02237a23ce8a7e37508f735584bcd6c6a256c

Comment 6 Kim 2011-06-23 15:35:34 UTC
@Matt, the alternate link failed.

@Brian, your first link works great. I didn't try the second link.

Tested with anaconda-13.21.125. Install completed and selected packages from EPEL repo were installed.
