Why is /opt/google/chrome/chrome labelled textrel_shlib_t? That is a GREAT question. I'm installing them from the google repos. [google-chrome] name=google-chrome baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64 enabled=1 gpgcheck=1 The previous version 13.0.782.15 was used and working fine. Then the latest unstable was installed, when I launched it I got the above SELinux errors. It could very well be a bad rpm. Not quite sure. $ grep chrome /var/log/yum.log Jun 10 07:38:52 Updated: google-chrome-unstable-13.0.782.15-88529.x86_64 Jul 07 20:00:35 Updated: google-chrome-unstable-14.0.803.0-90483.x86_64 I ran *ALL* of the suggested selinux fixes, and it works now. Here are the list of commands I ran: 997 sudo semanage fcontext -a -t textrel_shlib_t '/opt/google/chrome/chrome' 998 sudo restorecon -v '/opt/google/chrome/chrome' 999 sudo grep chrome-sandbox /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol 1000 sudo semodule -i mypol.pp Prior to that, I ran yum -y update. Here are all of the packages that got updated, including google-chrome. ------------ Jul 07 19:57:49 Updated: foo2zjs-0.20110602-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:07 Updated: 1:java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-51.1.8.8.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:11 Updated: setroubleshoot-server-3.0.35-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:13 Updated: libass-0.9.12-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:21 Updated: vlc-core-1.1.10-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:22 Updated: 32:bind-libs-9.7.3-2.P1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:23 Updated: fedora-cert-0.5.9.2-1.fc13.noarch Jul 07 19:58:24 Updated: fedpkg-0.5.9.2-1.fc13.noarch Jul 07 19:58:25 Updated: bodhi-client-0.8.0-1.fc13.noarch Jul 07 19:58:26 Updated: 32:bind-utils-9.7.3-2.P1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:29 Updated: vlc-1.1.10-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:32 Updated: setroubleshoot-3.0.35-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:37 Updated: 1:java-1.6.0-openjdk-devel-1.6.0.0-51.1.8.8.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:38 Updated: 1:java-1.6.0-openjdk-plugin-1.6.0.0-51.1.8.8.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:42 Updated: 1:java-1.6.0-openjdk-demo-1.6.0.0-51.1.8.8.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:43 Updated: foo2slx-0.20110602-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:44 Updated: foo2hp-0.20110602-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:45 Updated: foo2hiperc-0.20110602-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:46 Updated: foo2qpdl-0.20110602-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:48 Updated: foo2lava-0.20110602-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:49 Updated: foo2xqx-0.20110602-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:51 Updated: iproute-2.6.33-9.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:52 Updated: 7:kdegraphics-libs-4.5.5-2.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:54 Updated: fetchmail-6.3.20-1.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:55 Updated: xorg-x11-server-utils-7.4-17.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:57 Updated: 5:mutt-1.5.21-5.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:58:58 Updated: fedora-packager-0.5.9.2-1.fc13.noarch Jul 07 19:59:02 Updated: 1:java-1.6.0-openjdk-src-1.6.0.0-51.1.8.8.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 19:59:47 Updated: 1:java-1.6.0-openjdk-javadoc-1.6.0.0-51.1.8.8.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 20:00:18 Installed: kernel-devel-2.6.34.9-69.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 20:00:35 Updated: google-chrome-unstable-14.0.803.0-90483.x86_64 Jul 07 20:00:39 Updated: kernel-headers-2.6.34.9-69.fc13.x86_64 Jul 07 20:00:40 Updated: perf-2.6.34.9-69.fc13.noarch Jul 07 20:00:51 Installed: kernel-2.6.34.9-69.fc13.x86_64 ------------- Remove your labeling # semanage fcontext -d -t textrel_shlib_t '/opt/google/chrome/chrome' # restorecon -R -v /opt/google/chrome/chrome and try again. SELinux is preventing /opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox from 'execute_no_trans' accesses on the file /opt/google/chrome/chrome. ***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests *************************** If you believe that chrome-sandbox should be allowed execute_no_trans access on the chrome file by default. Then you should report this as a bug. You can generate a local policy module to allow this access. Do allow this access for now by executing: # grep chrome-sandbox /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol # semodule -i mypol.pp Additional Information: Source Context unconfined_u:unconfined_r:chrome_sandbox_t:s0-s0:c 0.c1023 Target Context system_u:object_r:textrel_shlib_t:s0 Target Objects /opt/google/chrome/chrome [ file ] Source chrome-sandbox Source Path /opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox Port <Unknown> Host (removed) Source RPM Packages google-chrome-unstable-14.0.803.0-90483 Target RPM Packages google-chrome-unstable-14.0.803.0-90483 Policy RPM selinux-policy-3.7.19-101.fc13 Selinux Enabled True Policy Type targeted Enforcing Mode Enforcing Host Name (removed) Platform Linux (removed) 2.6.34.9-69.fc13.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue May 3 09:23:03 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 Alert Count 1 First Seen Thu 07 Jul 2011 08:13:37 PM EDT Last Seen Thu 07 Jul 2011 08:13:37 PM EDT Local ID dd87b6df-32e5-4922-8eb0-4a7cc200a619 Raw Audit Messages type=AVC msg=audit(1310084017.156:29027): avc: denied { execute_no_trans } for pid=2578 comm="chrome-sandbox" path="/opt/google/chrome/chrome" dev=dm-1 ino=4456534 scontext=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:chrome_sandbox_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 tcontext=system_u:object_r:textrel_shlib_t:s0 tclass=file type=SYSCALL msg=audit(1310084017.156:29027): arch=x86_64 syscall=execve success=no exit=EACCES a0=7fff527e6927 a1=7fff527e5ef0 a2=914250 a3=7fff527e5b40 items=0 ppid=0 pid=2578 auid=500 uid=500 gid=500 euid=500 suid=500 fsuid=500 egid=500 sgid=500 fsgid=500 tty=(none) ses=1 comm=chrome-sandbox exe=/opt/google/chrome/chrome-sandbox subj=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:chrome_sandbox_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 key=(null) Hash: chrome-sandbox,chrome_sandbox_t,textrel_shlib_t,file,execute_no_trans audit2allow #============= chrome_sandbox_t ============== allow chrome_sandbox_t textrel_shlib_t:file execute_no_trans; audit2allow -R #============= chrome_sandbox_t ============== allow chrome_sandbox_t textrel_shlib_t:file execute_no_trans;
