Description Matthew Saltzman 2011-07-08 02:56:15 UTC
Description of problem:
Sound-juicer and other apps that use libgnome-media-profiles don't show any profiles, even though profiles appear in gconf2-editor.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
libgnome-media-profiles-3.0.0-1.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open sound-juicer
2.
3.

Actual results:
Pop-up dialog shows: "The currently selected audio profile is not available on your installlation. Quit or Change Profile. Selecting Change Profile opens SJ, but Output Format shows no options. gnconf-editor shows profiles in /system/gstreamer/0.10/audio/profiles.

rhythmbox Preferences -> Music also shows no Preferred Format.

Expected results:
SJ shows output options available (including CD to MP3).

Comment 1 Jan Vlug 2011-10-31 23:20:59 UTC
Duplicate of bug #713721?

Comment 2 Matthew Saltzman 2011-11-01 00:26:30 UTC
It seems more properly that #713721 is a dup of this, as it is reported there also that RhythmBox exhibits the same problem, and that bug is filed against SoundJuicer.

On the other hand, I can suddenly no longer reproduce the problem. When I got the notification for Jan's comment, I opened gconf-editor and found the profiles listed. Opened SJ again, and it does indeed show the profiles in preferences. Just extracted a CD successfully. Preferred format options now also show in RhythmBox. Not sure what changed that might have affected this, though.

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 19:14:30 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
