Unfortunately a depending package which I need to build blender is not available for EL-6. I have contact the package maintainer of the pacckage to ask him for inclussion of the package into EL-6.

Jochen ...good to hear that ..and also  found that Atrpm provides blender for EL6 ...hope to hear from you ...Thanks in advance..

* was pushed to the Fedora EPEL 6 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=epel-testing ode-0.11.1-2.el6 blender-2.49b-7.el6'
as soon as you are able to.

Error: Package: blender-2.49b-7.el6.x86_64 (epel-testing)
           Requires: dejavu-fonts
i think this will solve some of the problems i am getting while installing it ..
