Is this still an issue in the 2.6.40.x F15 kernels? partially. Later kernels did fix it - but then new issues popped up - but I think I found the root-cause for those. I have an Android phone, and I discovered that if I remove it from the USB connector and restart the video app, video works again. This Dell E6320 laptop has a built-in camera, but I think it's somehow USB-based, so I think there's some conflict going on. I don't see any kernel errors on the topic - but it must be happening Anyway, now I know what side of my mouth to stick out my tongue, I know how to work around it, so I'm happy again :-} Jason |
Created attachment 512584 [details] lsmod, lsusb, dmesg output Description of problem: My Dell Latitude E6320 has a built-in webcam that works via uvcvideo (Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_HD). This has worked 100% fine since installing F15. However, yesterday it upgraded to kernel-2.6.38.8-35 and after the reboot the camera doesn't work Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.6.38.8-35 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. see via lsmod that uvcvideo has loaded correctly 2. see from dmesgs that the kernel looks 100% happy 3. see there's no /dev/video* files Actual results: All looks OK according to dmesg - but there's no /dev/video* files. Removing and reinserting uvcvideo doesn't fix the problem, neither does rebooting Expected results: camera should work I'll attach dmesg, lsusb and lsmod Additional info: I've plugged my old Logitech USB webcam back in and it works fine - so it's not a general camera issue - perhaps it's specific to the built-in "Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_HD" model?
