Description jeff sykes 2002-08-23 11:15:29 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.79 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.4.18-3 i586)

Description of problem:
Software-Raid WILL NOT INSTALL (RedHat 7.3)--but works on RedHat-7.1 and 7.2)
Install is through NFS-(boot option is...linux dd...using driver-disk)
Using AMD-XP processor (1500 mhz)-266 mhz bus + ddr-ram, 4-to-6 hard-drives
Pre-formatted drives don't work...unformatted drives don't work
CRASH occurs ...during-or-just-after-ANACONDA formats the partitions

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. BOOT remote machine via NFS boot-disk-(at LINUX-BOOT-PROMPT---> type...linux
dd...)
then...choose ANY OF THE FOLLOWING...
2a. drives can be PRE-FORMATTED-RAID-(on another machuine)...using
fdisk-or-(sfdisk---> partition type=fd)
2b. ...or...drives can be pre-formatted-EXT2fs -(on another machuine)....using
fdisk-or-sfdisk
2c. choose to MANUALLY PARTITION with disk-druid
...or...choose to MANUALLY PARTITION with fdisk...
2d. choose your RAID PARTITIONS (including BOOT=raid-1)

Actual Results: The installer then formats the drives as usual--but suddenly
CRASHES (error message)---> TypeError: unpack non-sequence

Expected Results:  ...you know.......

Additional info:

I have a big-fat... ANACDUMP.TXT ...file, but I'm not sure I know how to include
it with THIS FORM AS AN ATTATCHMENT

...please let me know if i am doing something stupid---or if it really is a
bug... I believe I have TRIED ALL THE POSSIBILITIES ( more than it appears to be
here...), and will use any-cheap-hack to get throught this...

Comment 2 Jeremy Katz 2002-08-23 19:23:23 UTC
Try using the update disk available at
http://people.redhat.com/~katzj/73raid.img? If you put that on a separate
floppy and boot with 'linux updates', inserting the disk when prompted, it
should fix the problem.
