Description Gary Case 2011-07-21 21:18:06 UTC
Description of problem:

In Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), Apple introduced what they're calling "Natural Scrolling" i.e. instead of moving your hand down on your pointing device to move a page up, you would move your hand up. This is the way most touchscreen devices like tablets and phones work. Instead of interacting with a scroll bar, you're interacting with the document itself, and your gestures move the document as they would if it were on the table in front of you.

I'd like to request that we add the ability to adjust scroll behavior to the synaptics driver to allow users to change scroll behavior if they so desire. Obviously this wouldn't be the default setting, but it would be nice if the setting was available for people who move frequently between Macs and Linux systems.

Please file this request with the upstream driver here https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=xorg

Note that given the state of the driver I doubt this will be added anytime soon, the driver is a mess.

For the record, I've opened a freedesktop.org bug:
