Does this happen every time?

Comment 4 David W. Legg 2011-07-25 14:43:28 UTC
Not every time, Tim.
I think it may be when an ink cartridge needs to be changed, but am not sure.

It would be good to have a way of doing this without having to refer to raw USB device names.

Yes: see bug #238882.

Can you test this scratch-build ?
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=3228095

Just download all the rpms in empty directory and run:
su -c "yum --nogpgcheck localupdate *.rpm"

Comment 7 David W. Legg 2011-07-26 12:02:53 UTC
(In reply to comment 6)
If I install these RPMs, how would I revert back to the standard latest fc14 ones should I need to, please?

Comment 8 Jiri Popelka 2011-07-26 12:12:33 UTC
yum downgrade 'gutenprint*'

Comment 9 David W. Legg 2011-08-03 10:19:32 UTC
Sorry, I must have been too slow.
The rpms have disappeared.
I will test them when they hit the fedora-updates-testing repo.

Comment 10 Jiri Popelka 2011-08-09 15:26:22 UTC
Ok, here's the regular build.

Comment 11 David W. Legg 2011-08-09 16:12:24 UTC
OK, tried the regular build with commands such as:

escputil --clean-head --new --printer-name Stylus-D92

and

escputil -i -r /dev/usb/lp0

The latter one only seems to work with raw device names, but otherwise all seems well. Thanks.
