How to reproduce
-----
1. This requires Gimp and a Microtek Scammaker 9800 scanner with the TMA1600 option installed.
2. I had a large XCF file loaded and was scanning another image to be added to that large file as another layer.
3. SANE simply exited in the crash, however there was an added warning that came up (either then or when I went to restart SANE) suggesting that the crash might also have damages some of Gimps' settings and that it was recommended that I saVve all and close Gimp, then reopen.
4. In the same session 2 other items were noted:
4a) The preview never worked. The light was on, the scanner bar travelled its course, hwoever it rendered no preview image and the sound that came from the stepping motor was definitely abnormal, resembling an unpleasant screech.
4b) I notice this backend now has some provision for handling the TMA1600 transparency adapter, however that remains to be tested. Also control of the 2 lamps has not been tested. Each should be able to be turned on and off manually.
4c) Also ICC calibration has yet to be tested once each for reflective mode and once for the transparency adapter. This requires the special Kodak colour standards for each mode.
4d) When I test the TMA1600, I will be looking for any no-go's which report a -702 error (this can mean many things.)

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-16 14:53:12 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 14 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 14. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '14' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 14 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
