Description Gideon Mayhak 2011-08-02 02:26:18 UTC
Description of problem:
During a network install of Fedora 16 Alpha TC1, the install fails on the thai-scalable-waree-fonts package. See screenshot here:

    http://gidux.dyndns.org:8080/f16-atc1-install-failure.jpg

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 16 Alpha TC1 install DVD

How reproducible:
I've only had a chance to try one; will try again if you think it could have been a fluke.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot into installer over network to HTTP mount of install DVD
2. Choose default Graphical Desktop option

Actual results:
Install fails on thai-scalable-waree-fonts package.

Expected results:
Install completes successfully.

Additional info:
I pressed Ctrl+Alt+[function keys] to see if there was any other relevant console output, and there wasn't anything related to the error. At the bash prompt, I was still able to ping my HTTP server, so I know the connection wasn't lost. It seems to me that if it was a temporary connection issue, I should have had the option to retry. This seems to be an actual failure of the package installation.

Please attach /tmp/syslog and /tmp/anaconda.log to this bug report from the time you hit the error message.

It failed at the same spot again, so I've attached the two logs you requested. Thanks for taking a look at this!

Comment 5 Chris Lumens 2011-08-03 14:27:49 UTC
This indicates an error running a %post scriptlet for the package. Sorry to make you run around for more information, but can you also grab /mnt/sysimage/root/install.log?

I'm sorry. I just ran sha256sum on the ISO I downloaded, and it looks like it may not be correct. I'm redownloading the ISO now, and I'll try another install tonight. It's possible it's failing on that package because my ISO is messed up.

I'll verify the ISO after it finishes downloading, and then I'll try the install again. I'll let you know whether I still get the error.

If that's all it was, I'm sorry for the noise :-). I should know better by now to verify the ISO!

I'm going to go ahead and close this as NOTABUG. Sorry for the noise. While I haven't had a chance to run through another install after downloading, I'm convinced the original issue was because of a bad ISO. Thanks!
