Description Milan Kerslager 2011-08-03 14:26:53 UTC
Please enable clamd notification by default in /etc/freshclam.conf by:

NotifyClamd /etc/clamd.conf

This is worthless do run freshclam on daily basis without pinging to daemon.

Comment 1 Jan-Frode Myklebust 2011-08-04 06:32:51 UTC
It's not completely worthless, as clamd will do notice that the db-files has changed automatically every $SelfCheck seconds.

From "man freshclam.conf":

       NotifyClamd STRING
Notify a running clamd(8) to reload its database after a down-
load has occurred. The path for clamd.conf file must be pro-
              vided.
Default: The default is to not notify clamd. See clamd.conf(5)´s
option SelfCheck for how clamd(8) handles database updates in
              this case.
