Thanks for submitting this crash report. Did you configure the keyboard layouts in xfce4-keyboard-settings as well or just in xfce4-xkb-plugin? Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc15 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 15 (Lovelock) Comment ----- I started the Preferences -> Keyboard while the Preferences window of the keyboard layout was open. Somehow I added by mistake the Afgan layout in the Keyboard window, I typed something into Firefox and then I switched to the Preferences window (applet) to see the list of layouts. xfce4-xkbd-plugin crashed in that moment. I don't know the difference between those 2 programs and I don't remember the precise steps I took the first time, a couple of months ago. Anyway, I use applet since then to reconfigure the layouts every time I log in. ps shows me that it's xfce4-xkb-plugin. By the way, your comment made me start Preferences -> Keyboard out of curiosity, while the Properties window of the applet was open. You can see the result in comment 4. Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc15 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 15 (Lovelock) Comment ----- I was deleting a layout. Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc15 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 15 (Lovelock) Comment ----- I was deleting a layout. Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) Comment ----- This happened soon after xfce startup after I hit Alt-Shift (my keybord layout switch key) a few times Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) Comment ----- This happened when unplugging/plugging a USB keyboard and hitting the layout switch key at about the same time. Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) Comment ----- Disconnect external USB keyboard, suspend the laptop, resume the laptop, press layout switcher key. Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) Comment ----- This happened when layout switcher key was clicked Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) Comment ----- This happened when disconnected/reconnecting a USB keyboard and then switching layouts. try to swith language by mouse rating: 4 Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 Architecture: i686 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) * connected an external keyboard to my laptop (the laptop has german keyboard layout, the usb keyboard has a us layout, don't know if this matters) * used setxkbdmap us to change the keyboard layout * sometimes the layout reverted to german, but i did not find a reason * added us layout to the xfce4-kbd-plugin, the reverts still happened * disconnected the usb keyboard and sent notebook to sleep * reconnected the keyboard, then woke up the notebook from sleep mode * xfce4-kbd-plugin crashed and the us layout option is forgotten in the settings backtrace_rating: 4 Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) Created attachment 555483 [details]

After waking up a suspended laptop and unlocking the xscreensaver lock I received an ABRT message. The xfce panel looks as usual (maybe plugin was automagically restarted?), and it only happened once. Hope the stacktrace will be helpful. backtrace_rating: 4 Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-2.fc16 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) Created attachment 568222 [details]

I _may_ have switched keyboard layout in the process. *** Bug 659841 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I have an Acer AOD257 netbook with dual US/Canadian French keyboard. At work I use a IBM model M French Canadian layout keyboard (PS/2). I have a PS/2 to USB converter (Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0d3d:0001 Tangtop Technology Co., Ltd HID Keyboard). I also plug in an external monitor and run: xrandr --output VGA1 --auto xrandr -s 1440x900 xrandr --output LVDS1 --off xfconf-query -c xfce4-panel -p /panels/panel-0/output-name -s VGA1 sudo tuned-adm profile latency-performance sudo service rpcbind start sudo service nfs-lock start sudo service nfs-idmap start sudo ypdomainname treklogic.com sudo service ypbind start sudo service autofs start sudo service ntpd start (switch to external display, move xfce panel to external display, and join company unix network. also maximize performance) When I get to work and plug in the model M, there are two issues that can arise: 1 - xfce-kbd faults (per this report) 2 - xfce-kbd loses CA keyboard setting, leaving just US (I have two keyboard layouts installed -- US and CA French). May be related. One of these issues happens almost every time. backtrace_rating: 4 Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) Created attachment 572327 [details]

This happened seconds after I plugged in USB headphones. backtrace_rating: 4 Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) This happened upon disconnect/reconnect of a USB keyboard backtrace_rating: 4 Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.4.1-1.fc16 OS Release: Fedora release 16 (Verne) This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping *** Bug 829330 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 904959 *** |
