Description Alex Butcher 2011-09-09 10:12:20 UTC
Description of problem:

From the dhcp-4.1.1-12.P1.el6_0.4.src.rpm package changelog:
* Fri Nov 10 2006 David Cantrell <dcantrell> - 12:3.0.5-2
[...]
- Pass -fPIC instead of -fpie/-fPIE in compiler flags

From the dhcp.spec:
CFLAGS="%{optflags} -fno-strict-aliasing -fPIE -D_GNU_SOURCE" \

Building the libraries with -fPIE instead of -fPIC means they cannot be used to build Perl modules, for example.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

4.1.1-12.P1.el6_0.4

Alex, will you be willing to test new packages (architecture ?) to see whether
the problem is fixed in your environment ?

Comment 7 Alex Butcher 2011-09-14 09:38:27 UTC
Hi Jiri - sure, we can test. x86_64 is best for us, thanks.

Comment 8 Alex Butcher 2011-10-03 09:51:31 UTC
Sorry for the delay. I've passed it to a (busy) colleague for testing in his environment.
