Description Joachim Backes 2011-09-22 06:21:11 UTC
Description of problem:
After booting my F16 box and login the very fist time, trying to play some sound file (for example an ogg file). But I hear nothing. If in this situation I kill pulseaudio (pkill pulseaudio), then after this sound is played properly.

In this situation (nothing plays), the only line in /var/log/messages having an pulseaudio entry is:

Sep 22 08:06:11 eule pulseaudio[2039]: pid.c: Daemon already running.

I'm using gnome-shell for my desktop.

How to debug this?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
pulseaudio-0.9.23-1.fc16.x86_64

How reproducible:
Each time after the very first login after boot.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Reboot
2. Login
3. Try to play a sound file
4. Nothing to hear
5. pkill pulseaudio
6. Try to play a sound file for the second time
7. I can hear sound

Actual results:

Expected results:
The sound file is played if trying to play the first time.

Got rid of the described effect by the most recent updates (I'm unable to say which ones).
