I tried to reproduce this on Beta but I couldn't. once I clicked the logout button, KDE pops up the dialog that contain buttons for logout, shutdown and reboot and counting down to logout. I guess you are missing the information after the step 4. did it really power off after pressing the log out button on im-chooser?

Comment 2 Robin Lee 2011-10-03 10:28:24 UTC
I disabled the logout dialog of KDE. That is, in "Startup and Shutdown"/"Session Management", I deselected "Confirm logout" and chose "Turn off computer" as the "Default Leave Option". Then the logout action of Im-chooser seems rely on the DE setting. This is not expected by me. If this is the very design, then you can close this issue.

Thanks. well, I borrowed the code from libegg for the session management though, it seems that it doesn't have anything to let the desktop know which option of logout, restart and shutdown the user is expecting to see. I need to investigate to do that.
