Comment 1 Jirka Klimes 2011-10-03 07:57:12 UTC
That's a problem with Broadcom wireless drivers, rather than NetworkManager.

I think your chip should be supported by Broadcom STA driver. See instructions at:
http://fedoramobile.org/fc-wireless/broadcom-linux-sta-driver

You should also blacklist b43 and ssb when using wl driver (in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf)

See also:
* https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Broadcom_wireless
* http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/Wireless/Broadcom

To get PCI-ID of the card run:
lspci -vnn | grep -A 10 BCM4312

then installed kmod-wl package ( i have enabled rpm-fusion repo)

now nm shows networks but doesn't connects to them

Comment 4 Jirka Klimes 2011-10-04 06:45:15 UTC
Could you paste output of nm-tool? Also, try to activate your network and then grab /var/log/messages so that we can see NM logs.
Any errors in dmesg regarding the WiFi driver?

I reinstalled my fedora 15 64 bit and now is have only official repo.
I followed the instruction as given in the link in dmesg..
installed b43 driver instead of broadcom-wl .. both work same ( none works :) )

Comment 12 Jirka Klimes 2011-10-05 11:24:37 UTC
Well, according to the logs you are using b43 driver. But never mind, it looks like it works now. (Before there was missing firmware, which caused problems. But now the firmware is found.)

The problem you encounter now is the issue from bug 741448 - due to bad packaging wifi.ui is missing and thus nm-applet crashes, which causes that NM can't get password and that's why WiFi connection is not activated. New package has been submitted for F15, but they are not in stable yet - see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=741448#c13. It would be nice if you can test the packages and add karma, so that the package can be pushed to updates.

Or as a workaround, you can install NetworkManager-gtk-devel that contains missing wifi.ui file (for the NetworkManager 0.9.1.90-1.git20110927.fc15).

Comment 15 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-07 16:05:23 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
