Description Mohamed El Morabity 2011-10-05 12:06:29 UTC
Description of problem:
gnome-online-accounts, as provided in Fedora 16, only supports Google, whereas it includes support for Facebook, Twitter and Yahoo (at least).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-online-accounts-3.2.0.1-1.fc16.x86_64

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch online accounts settings from the GNOME control center
2. Try to add a new online account

Actual results:
Only on account type is available (Google)

Expected results:
The services mentionned above should be also available.

As said above, gnome-online-accounts supports the Web services given above. Anyway these services require consumer keys/secrets to be set at compilation (using --with-<service>-key/--with-<service>-secret options in ./configure). Maybe these keys can be retrieved from the libsocialweb-keys package, as suggested for OpenSuse below:

There is a keys package in F16 now and we have files like /usr/share/libsocialweb/keys/twitter. Still, only Google accounts can be added. I really wonder why...

I have been waiting for a bug fix for this since F16 was released. I can't seem to find any further updates what so ever regarding the lack of support for the online accounts feature. The only option is google - I'm amazed there has not been more demand to get facebook working, are there any planned updates for this feature??

Facebook and Windows Live have been added to GNOME 3.4 which will be shipping in Fedora 17.
