Description Tom Lane 2011-10-05 20:07:50 UTC
Description of problem:
freeradius.spec contains "Requires: unixODBC". This is unnecessary, as the auto-generated dependency on the unixODBC shared library is sufficient. What's more, it's wrong with the planned split of unixODBC into base and library packages. Unless we remove that, it'll be impossible to install freeradius-unixODBC concurrently with unixODBC64.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
freeradius-unixODBC-0:1.1.3-1.6.el5

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Examine package's requires list.

Actual results:
Includes "unixODBC" explictly.

Expected results:
Should not, there should only be dependencies on shared libraries provided by unixODBC.

Additional info:
This is probably not important enough to justify a package turn by itself, but it'd be nice-to-fix if there's ever another reason to turn freeradius in RHEL5.

Comment 1 John Dennis 2011-10-05 21:16:25 UTC
freeradius in RHEL5 has been superseded by freeradius2. All new installations in RHEL5 are strongly encouraged to use freeradius2. I do not believe after having checked the freeradius2 spec file the same problem exists in freeradius2. However we are rebasing freeradius2 in the RHEL5.8 update and the deadline is only a few days away. If you believe there is a problem with ODBC in the new freeradius2 packages we need to get this fixed ASAP. Would you please validate freeradius2 does not have a problem with unixODBC from your perspective. Thank you.

Oh, cool. In that case we can mark this bug WONTFIX, since there will be an easy workaround, namely use freeradius2 instead.

I concur, that specfile looks fine.
