Description of problem:
Whenever I try to call either gvfs-open/xdg-open with URL, I get gvfsd running in 100% on my one core. Fortunately, I have two so I was able to install and run http://sourceware.org/systemtap/examples/process/forktracker.stp which shown this interesting thing (part of the endlessly repeating pattern)

By downgrading from F16 to RHEL 6.2, I have somehow achieved that my preferred browser (in gnome-default-applications-properties) was set to xdg-open.

How reproducible:
100% on my system

Steps to Reproduce:
1. set in gnome-default-applications-properties xdg-open as a default browser
2. either xdg-open http://www.google.com or gvfs-open http://www.google.com

systemtap shows these two commands looping

Expected results:
URL opened in something reasonable or 

Additional info:
settting firefox as my default browser clears the sitaution.

Since RHEL 6.2 External Beta has begun, and this bug remains
unresolved, it has been rejected as it is not proposed as
exception or blocker.
               
Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if appropriate and relevant, in the
next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

xdg-open is just shell script which calls gvfs-open to open preferred application under gnome. So endless loop is created if your preferred application for anything is xdg-open. However this isn't bug, but this is wrong configuration...
