Description Răzvan Sandu 2011-10-06 10:05:49 UTC
Description of problem:

The official Red Hat Enterprise Linux Deployment Guide fails to document the file /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd in section D (the complete reference of /etc/sysconfig directory).

http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6-Beta/html-single/Deployment_Guide/index.html#ch-The_sysconfig_Directory

In the guide, there is no paragraph about configuring a RHEL SMTP server with SASL, neither via the cyrus backend nor via the dovecot backend (dovecot being the default option in RHEL).

Thanks,
Răzvan

Comment 5 Jaromir Hradilek 2012-10-24 16:11:43 UTC
Hi Răzvan,

I have updated Appendix D, “The sysconfig Directory” and added documentation for the /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd file. As for the second part of your request, I discussed this with Josef Škarvada and Stephen Wadeley and we all agreed that the best place for this kind of documentation would be the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Security Guide. Consequently, I cloned this request as bug 869728.

Thank you,
Jaromir
