Description Kvikende 2011-10-06 11:23:09 UTC
Description of problem:
First my drive setup:
first disk -> contains windows and MBR used to boot
second disk -> contains linux with /boot

I upgraded my Fedora 15 to Fedora 16 by downloading the DVD image, using UNetBootin to create a liveusb from image on the drive and booting that liveusb.

In the installer I was asked to install the bootloader, but the only option available was to install the MBR on the liveusb (which was mounted as sda IIRC) and not on the first disk.

To fix this I had to first boot the usb which then booted the fedora installation, and within the fedora installation install grub on the correct drive.

How reproducible:
Haven't reproduced as I am happy with what I have.

Can you please attach anaconda's log files?

  /var/log/anaconda/anaconda.log
  /var/log/anaconda/anaconda.storage.log
  /var/log/anaconda/anaconda.program.log
  /var/log/anaconda/anaconda.syslog

Please attach them individually, as plain text attachments. Thanks a lot.

I don't think unetbootin sets up the usb device correctly, specifically the boot command line. If you try again, use livecd-iso-to-disk instead.
