Uhm, yeah, I said right from the start that we need to keep including the KatePart in kdelibs, nobody listened to me. All these packages: PyKDE4-0:4.7.1-2.fc16.i686 cantor-libs-0:4.7.1-2.fc16.i686 kate-0:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 kate-libs-0:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 kate-part-0:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 kdebase-workspace-0:4.7.1-2.fc16.i686 kdelibs-devel-6:4.7.1-2.fc16.1.i686 kdenetwork-kopete-7:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 kdepim-7:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 kdesdk-kompare-0:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 kdevelop-9:4.2.3-3.fc16.i686 kdevelop-libs-9:4.2.3-3.fc16.i686 kdevelop-php-0:1.2.3-1.fc16.i686 kdevplatform-libs-0:1.2.3-1.fc16.i686 kig-0:4.7.1-2.fc16.i686 kile-0:2.1-1.fc16.i686 klatexformula-ktexteditor-plugin-0:3.2.3-3.fc16.i686 koffice-kexi-libs-3:2.3.3-11.fc16.i686 ktikz-0:0.10-4.fc16.i686 kwrite-0:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 rkward-0:0.5.6-2.fc16.i686 rocs-0:4.7.1-3.fc16.i686 smokekde-0:4.7.1-2.fc16.i686 require libktexteditor.so.4. They all need a dependency on kate-part. (Well, except the bindings, I suppose, but then we need to look at all the stuff using those bindings.) Only these have such a dependency already: kate-0:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 kate-devel-0:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 kwrite-0:4.7.1-1.fc16.i686 rocs-0:4.7.1-3.fc16.i686 So, AFAICT, at least the following packages are missing a dependency on kate-part: cantor, kdenetwork-kopete, kdepim, kdesdk-kompare, kdevplatform, kig, kile, koffice-kexi, ktikz and rkward. And possibly kdebase-workspace too, not sure what that is using the ktexteditor for. Not sure what to do about klatexformula-ktexteditor-plugin, that one doesn't do anything useful without at least one program actually using the KatePart, so kate-part alone as a dependency won't be all that useful. And I left out the bindings (PyKDE4, smokekde), not sure how to best handle those. There should also be a dependency on konsole for the terminal toolview. Just a note on kdebase-workspace: Is it's necessary for kdebase-workspace-libs to depend on kdebase-workspace? I tried rebuilding kdebase-workspace removing that dep and was then way able to install kdevelop without having to install half of the kde desktop, the only additional deps I needed were kate-part, konsole and oxigen-icon-theme, and it works just fine AFAICT. Uhm, Rex, I thought you were working on this? Kile is still missing the kate-part dependency, I haven't checked the others.
> There should also be a dependency on konsole for the terminal toolview.
Well, the terminal view isn't exactly required, but still, I think adding a Requires: konsole shouldn't hurt now that it's in its own package. To be pedantic, we could split a konsole-part subpackage to require instead.
