There are a number of changes to the 3.1 kernel in the hda and realtek_patch files. Would it be possible for you to boot the F16 Beta live image and see if sound functions in the headphones? If so, we might be able to narrow down which commits fix the issue. Probably the same bug, after upgrading to 2.6.40.6-0.fc15.x86_64 my sound stopped working (not just front output, all of them). But in 2.6.40.4-5.fc15.x86_64 sound still works. My motherboard is Asus P8Z68V-PRO, so its the same socket and hardware. 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 05) Ok, I take back some things I wrote just before... front output is actually working with 2.6.40.6-0.fc15.x86_64, rear outputs are not (I have connected 5.1 set back there, stereo out front). I just tested Fedora 16 Beta live, sound seems to be working fine both ways. (In reply to comment #3) > I just tested Fedora 16 Beta live, sound seems to be working fine both ways. Is it okay if we close this as fixed in F16? The 2.6.41 update for F15 is the same kernel as the 3.1 kernel in F16, so closing this bug. If the 2.6.41 update for F15 is the same kernel as the 3.1 kernel in F16 then the bug is still present. I updated to the latest 2.6.41 in F15 and my headphones stopped working. Reverted to 2.6.38.8-35 to get them working again. Phill. With kernel 2.6.42.3-2.fc15.x86_64 problem still persists. 2.6.40.4-5.fc15.x86_64 still remains as latest working kernel (anything newer is broken). Test with F16 Beta live which I did before is not reliable as I probably tested it wrong (or with wrong kernel) Reason is that I didn't have the behavior of bug (and kernel versions) nailed yet. Front stereo output is still mute. Back output is partially working -> some range of volume is working, but volume up or down from that range means that sound is broken (some sort of high frequency beeping instead of proper sound) Me also. Front audio not working at all. This is bad. Need audio/mic for work. kernel-2.6.42.3-2.fc15.x86_64 What can we share to get this fixed SOON? Sound from rear connector, but no sound from from headphones. Phill. Still broken on new kernel:kernel-2.6.42.7-1.fc15.x86_64 No rear, no front. WTF? Linux phillb.home 2.6.42.9-2.fc15.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Mar 5 20:55:32 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux No sound of any description from any port now. It seems to be getting worse. On the bright side, someone is working on the code so that's good. Cheers and good luck. Phill. In my case I have found that the PulseAudio controls under the new kernel had everything muted. Try adjusting the volume and states after booting the new kernel. That fixed it. I now have sound from the speakers. Still no headphones though. (Doh, brain the size of planet and I didn't see the mute!) thanks (In reply to comment #14) > That fixed it. > > I now have sound from the speakers. Still no headphones though. > > (Doh, brain the size of planet and I didn't see the mute!) > > thanks But what confused me was why just changing the kernel back and forth made the difference. Same user level code, just the kernel. Sound, no sound. Then on a different thread entirely (I think in an Ubuntu forum) to check PulseAudio. Is this still seen with 2.6.43/3.3? Yes the issue still persists. No sound from the from headphone connector. The fron mic works though. Phill. (In reply to comment #17) > Yes the issue still persists. No sound from the from headphone connector. > The fron mic works though. I'm guessing you mean 3.3 based on your previous comments. Hi Josh, Linux mypc.home 2.6.43.5-2.fc15.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue May 8 11:09:22 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Hope this helps. Phill Has anybody tried Fedora 17 and kernel 3.4 ? Any changes? I have the some problem in 16 and 17 (3.4.3-1.fc17.x86_64) # Mass update to all open bugs. Kernel 3.6.2-1.fc16 has just been pushed to updates. This update is a significant rebase from the previous version. Please retest with this kernel, and let us know if your problem has been fixed. In the event that you have upgraded to a newer release and the bug you reported is still present, please change the version field to the newest release you have encountered the issue with. Before doing so, please ensure you are testing the latest kernel update in that release and attach any new and relevant information you may have gathered. If you are not the original bug reporter and you still experience this bug, please file a new report, as it is possible that you may be seeing a different problem. (Please don't clone this bug, a fresh bug referencing this bug in the comment is sufficient). With no response, we are closing this bug under the assumption that it is no longer an issue. If you still experience this bug, please feel free to reopen the bug report. |
