Description of problem:

what I get in logs and from dmesg:

and yet it worked ok, adding a printer, when I used system-config-printer

Please describe what you did, step by step.  For example, you plugged in the printer... what happened next?

nothing I did with the printer, to be honest I did not investigated it further, I just gave 'system-config-printer' command a try, instead of 'Printers' from 'System Settings' and it worked just fine.
