Description pierre.durand 1999-12-01 10:01:47 UTC
My HP Deskjet 560C is not detected under Redhat 6.1 but it was correctly
detected under RedHat 5.0 and I have no problems with Windows 95
The led busy on the printer panel is always on
When with printool I try to add a printer I get always the same message:
/dev/lp0 not detected
/dev/lp1 not detected
/dev/lp2 not detected
I have already added
 alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
to my /etc/conf.modules manually for now.
without effect
Thanks

What does
	dmesg |grep parport
say after you've tried printing?
Does something simple like
	echo "Windows sucks" >/dev/lp0
work?
Is the printer port activated in the BIOS, and set to a reasonable protocol,
such as "EPP" or "Bidirectional"?
