Description pgaltieri 2011-10-19 01:32:45 UTC
Description of problem:
I have a HP Laserjet m1522nf all in one printer. It has the ability to scan besides printing. When I attempt to configure the scan part of the printer, and I select the download from HP I get the following error:

ERROR: Plug-in file does not match its digital signature.
File may have been corrupted or altered.
Error code: 2

The printer you are trying to setup requires a binary driver plug-in and it failed to install.
Please check your internet connection and try again.
Visit http://hplipopensource.com for more infomation.

I have configured this printer successfully in the past for scanning support. It does successfully configure the printer for printing.

My internet connection is just fine since I'm filing the bug :-)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.10.9-3

How reproducible:
Every time I configure this printer for scanning support it fails.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. run hp-setup
2. specify the printer's IP address in manual discovery
3. keep clicking next

Actual results:
ERROR: Plug-in file does not match its digital signature.
File may have been corrupted or altered.
Error code: 2

Expected results:
A device is created for printing and another device that corresponds to the fax.

Additional info:
FYI - I did the same procedure months ago on Fedora 14 and it worked. However I get the same error if I try to configure the printer today on Fedora 14.

This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for
inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated
in the current release, Red Hat is unfortunately unable to
address this request at this time. Red Hat invites you to
ask your support representative to propose this request, if
appropriate and relevant, in the next release of Red Hat
Enterprise Linux. If you would like it considered as an
exception in the current release, please ask your support

Comment 3 pgaltieri 2011-10-19 16:11:31 UTC
If it will be fixed in a future release that's OK.

Comment 4 Jiri Popelka 2011-11-08 10:03:58 UTC
The http://www.openprinting.org website (where the plugins for HPLIP are uploaded) should be up and running again. Can you please re-test whether the installation of plugin still fails ?

Comment 5 pgaltieri 2011-11-09 16:05:44 UTC
I tested this this morning and it was able to download the plugin for scanning. However, there is still an issue. This particular printer also supports faxing. After I got past the scanning issue, when it asked me to add the printer, there was an check box for fax, but clicking on the box did not select the fax.
